Docs: Create a VM

Create one or more VMs on on-premise, private cloud, or public cloud platforms.

If the instance request workflow is enabled, configuring create-VM parameters submits an instance request ticket; automatic deployment starts only after approval. If the workflow is not enabled, you can create VMs directly. (Tickets are supported in the Enterprise Edition only.)

Prerequisites

On-premise: An enabled OneCloud host must exist in basic resources, or VMware must be connected with an enabled VMware host in basic resources.
Private cloud: OpenStack, ZStack, ZettaCloud, or HCSO account resources must be imported; an enabled host of that platform must exist in basic resources, and an available IP subnet must exist on that platform.
Public cloud: Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Azure, Huawei Cloud, Tencent Cloud, or UCloud account resources must be imported; the account must be enabled and healthy, and an available IP subnet must exist on that platform.

Entry points

Create an on-premise VM: On the VMs page, click “Create” above the list
Create a private cloud VM: Click the “Private cloud” tab, then click “Create” above the list
Create a public cloud VM: Click the “Public cloud” tab, then click “Create” above the list

On any create-VM page, you can switch the “On-premise”, “Private cloud”, and “Public cloud” tabs at the top to create VMs on different platforms.

Parameter configuration

When creating on on-premise, you can select the platform directly (OneCloud or VMware).

When creating on private cloud, the region determines the platform (OpenStack, ZStack, ZettaCloud, or HCSO).

When creating on public cloud, platform and region determine the platform (Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Azure, Huawei Cloud, Tencent Cloud, UCloud).

Basic configuration

Project: Administrators and domain administrators must specify the owning project when creating a VM.
Region (on-premise, private cloud): Select region and zone. For private cloud, the region determines the platform.
Name: Set the VM name.
- When quantity is greater than 1, names after the first use name-1~N.
- VMs and bare metal share a namespace. Names are unique in the system.
- Ordered suffix placeholders with # are supported; each # is one digit. For example, name host## with quantity 2 creates host00 and host01.
- Expressions are supported in the form ${variable}, e.g. ${host} uses the host name where the VM is created. See Hostname expression examples.
Notes: Set VM notes.

Billing configuration (public cloud)

Billing method: Pay-as-you-go or subscription.
- Pay-as-you-go: Pay by actual usage. Suitable when demand spikes sharply; more expensive than subscription.
- Subscription: Prepaid for one month, one year, or multiple years. Suitable when demand is stable; cheaper than pay-as-you-go. Auto-renewal can be enabled.

Only domestic public clouds support subscription.

Only Alibaba Cloud subscription supports purchasing one week; selecting one week auto-selects Alibaba Cloud.

On Alibaba Cloud, weekly purchases renew weekly, monthly renew monthly, and yearly renew yearly; other platforms renew monthly.

Expire and release: Set how long the new VM runs before it is deleted into the recycle bin. Default is unset. Options include “1 hour”, “6 hours”, “1 day”, “3 days”, “1 week”, “1 month”, or a custom duration.

On public cloud, expire and release is supported only for pay-as-you-go VMs.

Public cloud VMs in the recycle bin still incur charges; purge them from the recycle bin if no longer needed.

Instance configuration

Quantity: Number of VMs to create.
Platform (on-premise): OneCloud or VMware.
Platform and region (public cloud): Use geography, platform, region, and zone to filter available instance types. Prefer the nearest geography to reduce latency.

After selecting a geography for a public cloud VM, available platforms and regions must meet all of the following:

A cloud account for that platform exists, is not disabled, and has sufficient balance;

A VPC and IP subnet exist in that platform region;

Cloud subscription (public cloud): Create the VM with the specified subscription. Images, VPC, and IP subnets are filtered by subscription.
CPU architecture: x86 and ARM. Only OneCloud supports ARM; other platforms support x86 only by default.
Passthrough devices: Whether to configure passthrough devices. When enabled, select GPU, NPU, and similar devices. For GPU, also select GPU type and specific cards. Setting a graphics GPU filters images to UEFI.

Spec configuration

CPU cores, Memory: Set VM specs and choose available instance types from them.
Instance type: Combination of CPU and memory; prices differ by type. If CPU and memory are Unlimited, all types are shown. On-premise and private cloud types can be maintained on the cloud management platform; when creating a private cloud VM you can choose on-premise or private cloud types. Public cloud types sync from the corresponding public cloud.

OS images are currently filtered by the CPU architecture of the instance type.

Image configuration

Operating system: Select the VM image from the following sources. The dropdown shows name, size, CPU architecture, partition style, and boot mode, and can auto-select the boot mode below from the selected image.
- Public cloud image: Public images on the corresponding public cloud; public cloud only; not shown in the image list.
- Public cloud custom image: Custom images on a specified public cloud account; public cloud only; not shown in the image list.
- Private cloud image: Images on the corresponding private cloud; private cloud only; not shown in the image list.
- VMware image: Images on a specified VMware account; VMware only; not shown in the image list.
- Public image: Public images in the system image list; common system images maintained by administrators.
- Custom image: Custom images in the system image list; usually uploaded by users.
- Boot from ISO: ISO images in the system image list. Selecting an ISO requires installing an OS on the VM. Supported only on OneCloud and VMware.
- Host image: Host images in the host image list; OneCloud only.
- Instance snapshot: Instance snapshots in the instance snapshot list; OneCloud and VMware only.

When creating a public cloud VM with platform public or custom images, caching to the public cloud may make creation slower; prefer already cached images. Cached images show a cached badge next to the name.

For Windows VMs installed via ISO, install Virtio drivers after installation; drivers are available under Image Marketplace - ISO.

Monitoring agent: After installing the monitoring agent, detailed CPU, memory, disk, and other metrics are available.

Only OneCloud supports installing the monitoring agent plugin.

Disk configuration

System disk

Disk type, medium, and size are shown and set based on the selected instance type.

Only OneCloud system disks support viewing the disk medium.

On VMware, when selecting a VMware image or instance snapshot, system disk size cannot be changed.

On OpenStack, the image can be used as the system disk, with image storage as system disk storage.

Public clouds do not support scheduling tags.

On Tencent Cloud, system disk size must be a multiple of 10 or creation fails.

When “Boot from ISO” is selected, all disk types are shown as data disks. Display does not affect normal use.

Storage scheduling policy:

When no scheduling tag, preference, or block storage is specified, the system chooses the best storage by scheduling policy and default tag preferences.

Scheduling policies are checked first. If a matching policy exists, storage is chosen by the policy’s scheduling tags and preferences. Preferences in the policy override default preferences on the tags.
If no matching policy exists, the best storage is chosen by default preferences of scheduling tags bound to storage devices.

Scheduling preferences:

Prefer: Prefer storage with this tag.
Avoid: Prefer to avoid storage with this tag.
Exclude: Must not use storage with this tag.
Require: Must use storage with this tag.

Specify block storage: In the management backend view, you can specify block storage for disks and view usage. Currently supported only on VMware and OneCloud.

Data disks

Optional. Add multiple data disks and set type, medium, and size. Available types match the system disk. Only the first data disk can choose type; additional data disks use the same type as the first.

Only OneCloud data disks support viewing the disk medium.

Only OneCloud data disks support creating disks from disk snapshots.

On OpenStack, when the system disk uses image storage, data disk type can be set.

On VMware, data disk type matches the system disk.

Added data disks are attached only and are not partitioned automatically; partition manually after remote login.

Only OneCloud supports mount points, create-from-snapshot, and scheduling tags. Private clouds using local storage also support scheduling tags.

Administrator account: Shows the VM administrator account
Administrator password: Set the administrator password (root on Linux; Administrator on Windows).
- Random: Generate a random password; view and copy it in the Password column on the VM list
- Associate key: Create a key first. After associating, log in remotely with the private key.
- Keep image settings: Use the administrator password already in the image.
- Manual: Set the administrator password manually.

Boot from ISO does not support setting an administrator password; set it while installing the OS.

Supported password methods depend on the platform; follow the UI.

Network configuration

Network: Set the VM IP address.

VMware VMs do not support VPC networks; only the default classic network can be selected.

Only OneCloud VMs can select the default classic network and VPC networks.

Only OneCloud supports up to 8 networks; other platforms support only one.

Only OneCloud VMs can configure passthrough NICs.

Network scheduling:

Auto schedule: Allocate an IP from IP subnets with auto scheduling enabled.
Specify IP subnet: Select VPC and IP subnet. To set a static IP, click “Configure IP manually”, set the IP, then click “OK”.
Specify scheduling tags: Set scheduling tags and preferences. Preferences override default tag policies. The best IP subnet is chosen by tags and preferences.

Tags: Bind tags to the new VM. Select existing tags or create new ones.

Create a tag: Click “Create” above the list, set key and value, then click “Add” to create and bind the tag.
Select existing tags: Click “Existing tags”, then select key and value.

Advanced configuration

Hidden by default; configure as needed.

Elastic public IP

An elastic public IP is a NAT IP bound to a VM for public network communication. Default is Do not bind. When “Create” is selected, configure:

Line type: Create an EIP of the required line type.
Network billing: By traffic or by bandwidth.
- By traffic: Charge by actual traffic; peak bandwidth can be limited to avoid unexpected cost. Packets are dropped when instantaneous bandwidth exceeds the limit. Suitable for high network fluctuation.
- By bandwidth: Charge by transfer rate with a fixed bandwidth; packets are dropped when exceeded. Suitable for low network fluctuation.
Bandwidth: Set bandwidth size.

Public IP

A public IP bound to a VM for public network communication. Includes elastic public IP and static public IP. Elastic public IPs can be bound and unbound flexibly; static public IPs cannot be unbound. Default is Do not bind. When creating an elastic or static public IP, configure:

Network billing: By traffic or by bandwidth.
Bandwidth: Set bandwidth size.

On on-premise, VPC-network VMs can bind an elastic public IP and support bandwidth billing only;

Except Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud, public clouds support creating elastic public IP only when creating a VM; Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud support elastic and static public IP.

When creating an AWS VM, if the selected VPC disallows external access, creating an elastic public IP is not allowed.

AWS, Azure, and Google support traffic billing only.

Only Alibaba Cloud elastic public IPs support selecting line type.

Security groups

Set security group rules for the VM. A security group is a virtual packet-filtering firewall that controls whether associated VMs can be accessed and which external resources they can access. A VM can bind up to 5 security groups.

Scheduling policy

Choose the host or cloud account for the VM via scheduling policy.

Default: The system chooses the best host by scheduling policies and scheduling tags.
- Scheduling policies are checked first. If a matching policy exists, the best host is chosen by the policy’s tags and preferences. Preferences in the policy override default tag preferences.
- If no matching policy exists, the best host is chosen by default preferences of tags bound to hosts.
Specify host: Create the VM on the specified host.
Specify scheduling tags: Set scheduling tags and preferences. Preferences override default tag policies. Hosts are chosen by tags and preferences.
Cloud subscription (on-premise and private cloud): Create the VM with the specified subscription on private cloud or VMware. If an IP subnet was specified in network configuration, only the subscription of that IP subnet can be selected.

Other configuration

Boot mode: BIOS or UEFI; OneCloud only. ARM supports UEFI only.
Remote console protocol: VNC or SPICE; OneCloud only.
- VNC: Mainly for Linux server management; no audio or USB transfer, so not ideal for virtual desktops.
- SPICE: Better color, audio, and USB support; suitable for virtual desktops.
Graphics card: Standard or QXL. With VNC, Standard or QXL; with SPICE, QXL only. OneCloud only.
Machine type: PC or Q35; OneCloud only.
Backup instance: OneCloud only. Requires at least two hosts in the VM’s domain or shared to that domain. Creates a backup instance for high availability.
Instance group: Optionally select an instance group so the new VM is placed by the group’s scheduling rules. OneCloud only.
Instance encryption: Enable instance encryption so all disks are encrypted with the selected key. OneCloud only.
Custom data: Configure the elastic cloud server with custom data via text or uploaded JSON. OneCloud supports shell, python, and perl scripts; private and public clouds support shell and yaml.
Bastion host: Off by default. When enabled, select a bastion host managed on OneCloud.

After configuration, click “Create” to create the VM.

If tickets are enabled, enter the request reason, click “Submit ticket”, and wait for approval before creation starts.

Hostname expression examples

Host names (VMs and bare metal) support expressions in the form ${variable_name} with lowercase variable names. For example, ${host} uses the host name where the VM is created; ${region}-${zone} shows region-zone, and so on.

Sync status

When a VM is maliciously damaged or improperly forced-operated and enters an abnormal service state (for example system hang), administrators need to repair it in the background, sync the VM environment status, and provide system-level service repair. You can also sync the running status when resources are overcommitted. Batch sync status supports selecting VMs on different platforms.

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Sync status”.

Start

Start a VM that is in the stopped state. Batch start supports selecting VMs in the “Stopped” state on different platforms.

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Start”.
Confirm the action.

In the VM list, select one or more VM (stopped), then click “Start” above the list.
Confirm the action.

Stop

Stop a VM that is in the running state. Batch stop supports selecting VMs in the “Running” state on different platforms.

Currently only pay-as-you-go VMs on Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud support stop without charging.

After stop, CPU and memory are released and billing for CPU and memory stops; associated disks, images, and public bandwidth (if billed) continue to be billed

After stop, the instance CPU and memory are no longer reserved, so starting the instance again may fail. In that case, try starting again, or try at another time

After stop, ordinary public IPs are released and cannot be recovered; convert them to elastic public IPs before stopping

After stop, elastic public IPs are retained and not released, and are not charged during the stopped period

During the stopped period, many instance operations (such as resize configuration and reinstall OS) may be unavailable; start the instance first if you need those operations

Some instances that do not support stop-without-charge continue normal billing after stop

Stop one

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Stop”.
Confirm the action.

Stop in batch

In the VM list, select one or more VM (running), then click “Stop” above the list.
Confirm the action.

Restart

Restart a VM that is in the running state. The VNC connection is interrupted during restart. Batch restart supports selecting VMs in the “Running” state on different platforms.

Restart one

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Restart”.
Confirm the action.

Restart in batch

In the VM list, select one or more VM (running), then click “Restart” above the list.
Confirm the action.

If “Force restart” is selected, unsaved data in the VM will be lost.

Reset

Restart a VM that is in the running state without interrupting the VNC connection. Only supported for VMs on the OneCloud platform.

On the VMs page, click the “More” button in the Actions column of a VM in the “Running” state, then choose “Instance state - Reset”.
Confirm the operation.

Suspend

Put a VM that is in the running state into hibernation. In the suspended state, the VM saves its current state; services pause without ending, and you can quickly restore the state using Resume.

Currently only VMware VMs support suspend/resume.

Suspend one

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Suspend”.
Confirm the action.

In the VM list, select one or more VM (running), then click “Suspend” above the list.
Confirm the action.

Resume

Resume a VM that is in the suspended state to the running state.

Currently only VMware VMs support suspend/resume.

Reinstall OS

Reinstall the VM system with a new OS image.

Reinstall OS does not change the VM IP address or MAC address.

Reinstall OS clears system disk data; back up important data first.

Change configuration

Modify VM CPU cores, memory size, and other configuration.

Change configuration may require the VM to be stopped; requirements vary by platform.

Change configuration does not change the VM IP address or MAC address.

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Change configuration”.
Confirm the action.

Change configuration in batch

In the VM list, select one or more VM, then click “Change configuration” above the list.

Create same configuration

Create a new VM based on an existing VM’s configuration.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Create same configuration”.
Open the create VM page with the same parameters as the original VM.
Modify required parameters, then click “Create”.

Set passthrough devices

Configure GPU, NPU, and other passthrough devices for a VM.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Set passthrough devices”.
Select devices to pass through.
Click “OK”.

Set USB passthrough

Configure USB device passthrough for a VM.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Set USB passthrough”.
Select USB devices to pass through.
Click “OK”.

Set disk speed

Set I/O speed limits for VM disks.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Set disk speed”.
Set read/write speed limits.
Click “OK”.

Change block storage

Migrate the VM system disk to another block storage.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Change block storage”.
Select the target block storage.
Click “OK”.

Bind physical CPU

Bind the VM’s vCPUs to physical CPU cores for better performance.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Bind physical CPU”.
Select physical CPU cores to bind.
Click “OK”.

Modify attributes

Modify boot mode, remote console protocol, and other attributes.

Currently only VMs on OneCloud support modify attributes.

Changes take effect after restarting the instance.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Attribute settings - Modify attributes”.
Set:
- Boot mode: BIOS by default; ARM architecture supports UEFI only.
- Remote console protocol: VNC by default; SPICE is also supported.
- Graphics card model: Standard by default; QXL is also supported.
- Machine type: PC by default; Q35 is also supported.
- Auto start: Off by default; when on, the VM starts as soon as its host starts.
Click “OK”.

Change project

Move a VM to another project.

Change project one

On the VM page, click “More” in the row actions for the target VM, then choose “Change project”.
Confirm the action.

Change project in batch

In the VM list, select one or more VM, then click “Change project” above the list.
Confirm the action.

Expire and release

Set the time when a VM expires and is released.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Attribute settings - Expire and release”.
Set the expiration time.
Click “OK”.

Renew

Renew a subscription VM.

Supported only on public cloud platforms.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Renew”.
Select the renewal duration.
Click “OK”.

Auto-renew settings

Set whether a VM renews automatically.

Supported only on some public cloud platforms.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Auto-renew settings”.
Choose whether to enable auto-renew.
Click “OK”.

Clone instance

Clone a VM to create a new VM with the same configuration.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Clone instance”.
Set the new VM name and quantity.
Click “OK”.

Join instance group

Add a VM to an instance group for high availability.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Join instance group”.
Select an instance group.
Click “OK”.

Security group management

A security group is a virtual packet-filtering firewall. Rules control whether associated VMs can be accessed and which external resources they can access.

Associate a security group

Associate a security group with a VM.

A VM can bind up to 5 security groups (limits vary by platform; see Platform Compatibility).

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.
Click the “Security Groups” tab.
Click “Associate security group” and select a security group.
Click “OK”.

Disassociate a security group

Disassociate a security group from a VM.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.
Click the “Security Groups” tab.
Click “Disassociate security group” in the Actions column.
Confirm the operation.

EIP management

An EIP is a NAT IP. Bound to a VM, it enables communication between the VM and the public network.

Bind an EIP

Bind an EIP to a VM.

On local IDC platforms, only VPC networks support binding EIPs.

Platform support varies; see Platform Compatibility.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Network - Bind EIP”.
Select an existing EIP or create a new one.
Click “OK”.

Unbind an EIP

Unbind an EIP from a VM.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Network - Unbind EIP”.
Confirm the operation.

Public IP to EIP

Convert a static public IP to an EIP.

Supported only on public cloud platforms.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Network - Public IP to EIP”.
Confirm the operation.

NIC management

Add a NIC

Add a NIC to a VM.

Only OneCloud supports adding multiple NICs.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.
Click the “NICs” tab.
Click “Add NIC”.
Select an IP subnet and IP address.
Click “OK”.

Delete a NIC

Delete a NIC from a VM.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.
Click the “NICs” tab.
Click “Delete” in the Actions column of the NIC.
Confirm the operation.

Password and key management

Reset password

Reset the administrator password of a VM.

Status requirements for reset password vary by platform; see Platform Compatibility.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Password/Key - Reset password”.
Set a new password.
Click “OK”.

Bind a key pair

Bind an SSH key pair to a VM.

Requirements vary by platform; see Platform Compatibility.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Password/Key - Bind key pair”.
Select a key pair.
Click “OK”.

Unbind a key pair

Unbind an SSH key pair from a VM.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Password/Key - Unbind key pair”.
Confirm the operation.

Set passwordless login for Agent installation and related features.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Password/Key - Set passwordless login”.
Choose a method:
- Key: Use root or a user with passwordless sudo and its private key.
- Password: Use root or a user with passwordless sudo and its password.
- Script: Run the provided script on the VM.
Click “OK”.

Probe the passwordless login status of a VM.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Password/Key - Probe passwordless login”.
The system probes passwordless login status automatically.

Source/destination check

Set source/destination check for a VM.

Supported only on OneCloud.

On the VMs page, click “More” in the Actions column, then choose “Network - Set source/destination check”.
Enable or disable source/destination check.
Click “OK”.

Disk management

Attach disk

Attach a data disk to a VM.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the VM details page.
Click the “Disks” tab to open the disks page.
Click the “Attach disk” button.
Select the disk to attach.
Click the “OK” button.

Detach disk

Detach a data disk from a VM.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the VM details page.
Click the “Disks” tab to open the disks page.
Click the “Detach” button in the Actions column of the disk.
Confirm the operation.

Snapshot management

Create snapshot

Create a snapshot for a VM.

Support for creating snapshots differs by platform. See Platform Compatibility.

View monitoring information

View monitoring information for a VM and set alerts based on the monitoring data.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the VM details page.
Click the “Monitoring” tab to open the monitoring page.
By default you can view the following monitoring information:
- Basic monitoring: Monitoring information collected by default.
  - Supports viewing performance monitoring for the last 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 week, and 1 month.
  - Supports setting time granularity; available granularity depends on the selected duration.
  - Supports aggregation function filters; aggregation functions include minimum, maximum, and average.
  - Metrics include CPU usage, memory usage, network inbound traffic, network outbound traffic, disk usage, disk read rate, and disk write rate. Memory usage and disk usage require the Agent to be installed.
- Agent monitoring: Monitoring information collected after the Agent is installed on the VM; includes the disk usage metric in addition to basic monitoring. Compared with basic monitoring, Agent monitoring provides more accurate data.

Install Agent

Install the monitoring Agent on a VM.

Prerequisites

The VM runs a Linux or x86 Windows operating system;
x86 Windows VMs must be in the stopped state; Linux VMs have no status restriction;
VMs in a OneCloud platform VPC can install the Agent directly; non-OneCloud platform VMs require an SSH proxy node in the VPC or IP subnet;
The VM must allow passwordless login from the platform;
VMs started from ISO do not support installing the monitoring Agent

Steps

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the VM details page.
Click the “Monitoring” tab to open the monitoring page.
Click the “Install Agent” button. The Install Agent dialog appears.
The platform starts probing the passwordless login status of the VM.
- When the VM allows passwordless login, click the “OK” button to install the Agent.
- When the VM does not allow passwordless login, set passwordless login first. Click the “View” button in the Actions column of the list to see the specific reason why passwordless login probing failed.
  - If the error reason mentions “none publickey”, use Set passwordless login to configure passwordless login for the VM. Configuration parameters for setting passwordless login:
    - Method: Upload the platform public key to the VM using a key, password, or script.
    - When the method is “Key”, use the root user or a user with passwordless sudo privileges and its private key. Ensure you can connect to the VM via SSH with the username and private key, then click the “OK” button to start setting and probe whether passwordless login succeeds.
    - When the method is “Password”, use the root user or a user with passwordless sudo privileges and its password. Ensure you can connect to the VM via SSH with the username and password. Click the “OK” button to start setting and probe whether passwordless login succeeds.
    - When the method is “Script”, run the provided script on the VM as root or a user with sudo privileges. After execution completes, click the “OK” button to start setting and probe whether passwordless login succeeds.
  - If the error reason mentions “network error”, go back and select another VM, or make the VM reachable from the platform by binding an EIP or using a NAT gateway.

When Agent installation fails, move the mouse over “Installation failed, try again” to see the specific failure reason.

Alert settings

Set alerts for VM monitoring metrics. When alert conditions are exceeded, alert recipients are notified by email.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the VM details page.
Click the “Alerts” tab to open the alerts page.
You can manage alerts as follows:
- Create alert: Create multiple alert conditions as needed.
  - Click the “Create” button above the list. The Create Alert dialog appears.
  - Metric: Set alert conditions for parameters such as CPU usage, memory utilization, network inbound traffic, network outbound traffic, disk read rate, and disk write rate.
  - Query period: Set the period for querying alert conditions.
  - Comparison operator and threshold: Set the threshold for the alert condition. When VM monitoring metric data exceeds or falls below the threshold, an alert is triggered.
  - Alert level: Includes normal, important, and fatal.
  - Alert method: Currently only email alerts are supported.
  - Alert recipients: You can select users in the same project, or users with the domain administrator or system administrator role.
  - After configuration, click the “OK” button.
- Modify alert: All parameters except the metric can be modified.
- Delete alert: Supports deleting a single alert condition or batch deleting alert conditions.

Scheduled tasks

Create scheduled tasks for starting, stopping, restarting, and syncing VMs.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the VM details page.
Click the “Scheduled Tasks” tab to open the scheduled tasks page.
Configure the following parameters:
- Specify project: Administrators and domain administrators must specify the project that the scheduled task belongs to when creating a scheduled task.
- Name: Set the name of the scheduled task.
- Notes: Set notes for the scheduled task.
- Trigger frequency: Supports Once, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly.
  - When “Once” is selected, set the specific trigger time.
  - When “Daily” is selected, set the specific trigger time each day and set the valid period. The scheduled task takes effect within the valid period.
  - When “Weekly” is selected, choose the trigger day of the week and trigger time, and set the valid period. The scheduled task takes effect within the valid period.
  - When “Monthly” is selected, choose the specific trigger date and trigger time, and set the valid period. The scheduled task takes effect within the valid period.
- Resource type: Currently only VMs are supported.
- Action: Currently only Start, Stop, Restart, and Sync are supported.
- Associated resources: Select the VMs on which to run the scheduled task. Click the input box, select VMs in the dialog that appears, then click the “Select” button.
Click the “OK” button to create the scheduled task.

Click the “Disks” tab.
View index, disk name, size, driver, cache mode, status, storage type, disk type, and more. Custom columns are supported.

View snapshot information

View disk snapshots and instance snapshots, and manage snapshots.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.
Click the “Snapshots” tab.
Disk snapshots are shown by default; you can roll back a disk or delete snapshots.
Click the “Instance snapshots” tab to view instance snapshots; delete is supported.

View security group information

View security groups bound to the VM and manage them.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.
Click the “Security Groups” tab.
The list shows bound security groups and supports management. See Security Groups.

View EIP information

View EIPs bound to the VM.

On the VMs page, click the VM name to open the details page.

- Export logs: only the current page can be exported. Click the download icon in the upper right, select columns, then click “OK”.

View multi-level organization

Filter and display VMs across multiple hierarchy levels using project tags.

On the VMs page, click the icon to the left of the search box to expand hierarchical projects.
Click the settings icon in the upper right to open the hierarchy configuration page.
Click “Add level” to add levels; for each level select a project tag, then click “OK”.
