Supported versions

VMware 5.0–7.0 are supported.

VMware resource onboarding flow

Create a VMware cloud account. The platform automatically creates Layer 2 networks and IP subnets. Mapping:

One vSwitch or Distributed vSwitch maps to one Layer 2 network;

Contiguous IP ranges with the same VLAN under a Layer 2 network form one IP subnet;

After the account is added, if auto-created Layer 2 networks and IP subnets do not match your network design, merge wires and IP subnets based on the real VMware environment. Merging wires is irreversible; if misconfigured, delete the cloud account and add it again.

Procedure

On the Cloud Accounts page, click “Create” above the list.

Select VMware, then click “Next: Configure cloud account”.

Configure:

Name: VMware account name.

vCenter address: vCenter server domain or IP.

Port: default 443.

Account: vCenter admin username.

Password: vCenter admin password.

Common parameters: see Common configuration parameters.

Click “Connection test” to verify parameters.

After a successful test, click “Next: Scheduled sync (optional)” to configure scheduled sync.

Click “OK” to create the VMware cloud account and related IP subnets and start syncing resources.

If no resources appear after import, check whether a non-admin account was used.
