L2 Network
A L2 Network corresponds to a L2 Network in a physical network. Hosts within a L2 Network can communicate at Layer 2 without being forwarded through Layer 3 devices, and a L2 Network can be configured with multiple IP subnets.
A L2 Network defines the boundaries of a L2 Network, and an IP subnet defines the pool of IP addresses that can be assigned within a L2 Network.
L2 Network Source.
- Synchronization of L2 Network on ZStack and DStack platforms.
- The L2 Network belonging to the OneCloud platform is created when the cloud management platform control node is initialized and bootstrapped after installation.
Description
The public cloud platform does not have the concept of a L2 Network, and IP subnets can be created directly under the VPC.
Create L2 Network
This function is used to create OneCloud platform’s L2 Network. The cloud management platform only supports synchronizing the L2 Network of private cloud platform, and does not support new creation.
- On the L2 Network page, click the “Create” button at the top of the list to bring up the Create dialog box.
- Set the following information.
- Assigned Domain: Select the domain to which the L2 Network belongs.
- Proprietary Network: Select the local area as well as the local VDC.
- Availability Zone: Select the zone to which the L2 Network belongs.
- Name: Set the name of the L2 Network.
- Bandwidth: Set the network bandwidth supported by the L2 Network, including 100M, 1G, 2x1G, 10G, 2x10G, 25G, 40G, 100G. The L2 Network bandwidth is mainly for the purpose of network utilization statistics to determine the network load of servers.
- Click the “OK” button.
Merge wire
This function is used to merge L2 Network, which currently only supports L2 Network on OneCloud platforms. A L2 Network is an isolated broadcast domain. Merging two and more L2 Network will become one broadcast domain.
Main usage: After managing VMware account, it will create L2 Network on the platform according to VMware’s vSwitch or Distributed vSwitch correspondence, so it may cause the same network on VMware is split into multiple L2 Network, at this time, you need to merge L2 Network and IP subnets according to the actual networking of VMware environment by merging wire function.
- Select one or more OneCloud platform’s L2 Network in the L2 Network list, click the “Batch Action” button at the top of the list, and select the drop-down menu “Merge wire” menu item to bring up the Merge wire dialog box.
- Support to view the IP subnet and host information under the L2 Network, please select whether to “automatically merge consecutive subnets of network segments under the new L2 Network” according to your requirement.
- Click “OK” button to start merging L2 Networks, and the name of the merged L2 Network will be the name of the first selected L2 Network.
Modify Properties
This function is used to adjust the bandwidth and MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) values of the L2 Network.
- On the L2 Network page, click the “Modify Properties” button on the right action bar of L2 Network to bring up the Modify Properties dialog box.
- Adjust the bandwidth and MTU values (range: 68 bytes ~ 9216 bytes, usually set to 1500 bytes), and click the “OK” button.
Change Domain
This function is used to change the domain to which the L2 Network belongs.
Description
Conditions for changing the domain: both of them must be satisfied
- The current user is in the system backend.
- Three-level Resource Hierarchy have been enabled in OneCloud .
- The shared scope of the L2 Network is private.
L2 Network change domain
- On the L2 Network page, click the “More” button on the right action bar of the L2 Network, and select the drop-down menu “Change Domain” menu item to bring up the Change Domain dialog box.
- Select the domain to which the L2 Network belongs and click the “OK” button.
Batch Change Domain
- Check one or more L2 Network in the L2 Network list, click the “Batch Operation” button at the top of the list, and select the drop-down menu “Change Domain” menu item to bring up the Change Domain dialog box.
- Select the domain to which the L2 Network belongs to and click the Batch Actionon.
Set up sharing
This function is used to set the sharing scope of the L2 Network.
There are three types of sharing ranges for domain resources.
- Unshared (private): I.e. domain resources are available only to users in this domain.
- Domain sharing-part (Multiple Domains sharing): I.e. domain resources can be shared to the specified domain (one or more), and only users under the domain where the domain resources are located and the shared domain can use the domain resources.
- Domain Share-All (Global share): I.e. domain resources can be shared to all domains, i.e. all users in the system can use the domain resources.
Description
Conditions for setting up sharing: need to satisfy both
- The current user is in the system backend.
- Three-level Resource Hierarchy have been enabled in OneCloud
L2 Network setting sharing
- On the L2 Network page, click the “More” button on the right column of the L2 Network, and select the drop-down menu item “Set up sharing” to bring up the Set up sharing dialog box.
- Configure the following parameters.
- When the sharing scope is selected as “No Sharing”, the sharing scope of domain resources is private and only users of this domain can use it.
- When Shared Range is selected as “Domain Shared”, you need to select the domain to be shared.
- When the domain is selected as one or more domains, the shared scope of the domain resource is Domain Shared-Partial, and only users in the domain where the domain resource is located and under the shared domain can use the domain resource.
- When the domain selects All, i.e. the sharing scope of the domain resource is Domain Share-All, all users in the system can use the domain resource.
- Click the “OK” button to complete the operation.
Batch Setting Sharing.
